autumn

I know what you’re thinking. It’s past autumn now; we’ve got frosts and days that dwindle to nothing at 4pm.
And yes, I did take the above photograph during the first few weeks of moving to Canterbury in late September. But we’ve benefited from such an unseasonably warm October and November, and thus far it still feels like the early fringes of the falling season. Leaves are still clinging onto branches. Grass contains to grow and grow in the muddy patch that, beyond the kitchen window, could be my garden.
In short, I’m trying to blame the weather for my lack of writing output. The coldness of November is usually what drives me indoors to the ole’ keyboards. Not this year.
Maybe it’s the obsessive running routine I’ve embarked on since reading Murakami’s book about the subject …
Or it could be something to do with the helluva work-load in my English course at UoK too, I suppose…
What I have done
I have reviewed the latest Buraka Som Sistema album and the debut record from Cubenx. Also, I’ve been penning a music column for the student newspaper on a bi-weekly basis – covering everything from the resurgence of tronik shoe-gaze to Saint Saviour’s scheme to ask fans to help her get her album off the ground.
But on the whole it’s been pretty quiet.
Having said that, I have got my irons in a few other fires at the minute… more info on those, as and when.
Hopefully I will be able to provide a more exciting update next time.
Adieu!
[No Pun Needed]
We all saw Saint Saviour when she was touring with Groove Armada last year (providing vocals lifted from the excellent Black Light LP).
She now seems to be carving out her own deserved musical career.
Sublime, I think is the word.
Here’s a free one for desert:
