Review:
A compilation paying homage to house music circa ’85 – ’92 might not sound like a particularly innovative concept on paper, but Steve Bug & Co.’s attempt at recreating past vibes is surprisingly deft in its execution. Utilising analogue tape mastering to complete its intended effect, highlights include jacking vocal cuts courtesy of Steve Bug and The Revenge, smouldering deep house from Deetron and snarling proto-Detroit techno as envisioned by Redshape. With each cut lasting seven or eight minutes-long the compilation stretches into an epic landscape of hypnotic rhythmic hooks, proving itself as both a solid listening experience and an excellent jumping-on point for younger house-heads exploring their Chicago roots.
