Review:
Icelandic four-piece FM Belfast (who definitely aren’t Irish) have spent half a decade touring their organic style of whimsical electro, winning over a cult European following with their lo-fi and grassroots sensibilities. This, their sophomoric album, is as confident an outing as you would expect from a quartet with such credentials; the band’s sense of fun and liveliness is perfectly conveyed, obvious in its pop-indulgence and it’s airy eighties’-influenced drum machines, synths and hooks. The catchy melodies floating against a backdrop of lyrics about the minute things in life and love, are comparable in composition and essence to Hot Chip’s early albums, with ‘Don’t Want To Sleep’, ‘American’ and ‘Vertigo’ prompting you straight in the direction of the repeat button.
