Interviews May ’13
Danny Daze
I caught up with the Miami born, Barcelona based producer to chat about his eclectic style, his work with ghetto-tech pioneer DJ Godfather, what he thinks about the EDM takeover of his hometown and why he hasn’t capitalised on the ‘deep house’ sound that make him a global player. Read it here: http://www.ibiza-voice.com/story/news/4971
David August
One of the most eagerly awaited debut albums in dance music, ‘Times’ by David August touched down in record stores at the beginning of last month. I had a chat with the introverted producer about what its like to release a record whilst still in university. Read it here: http://www.ibiza-voice.com/story/news/4953
James Teej
Whether you know him for his own vocal noir house tracks or for his work as one third of My Favorite Robot, James Teej is something of an international dance-music fixture these days. I called Teej at his Canadian home to chat about his new ‘neo-progressive’ sound and the visionary inspiration behind his new album. Read it here: http://www.ibiza-voice.com/story/news/4952

Tale Of Us – The Mix Collection (Renaissance)
Tale of Us and Nick Monaco interviewed

Italian duo Tale Of Us have been making a stir in melodic techno and idiosyncratic house circles for a while now. So, when they announced that they were about to release a two-disc compilation that would “make our own statement” through Renaissance, it seemed a good time to sort an interview with them. I had a very frank chat, encompassing everything from deep house dullness to their long awaited album, with Matteo of Tale Of Us for Ibiza Voice. You can read the interview and stream a preview of their new compilation here.

Also this month I interviewed fresh-faced talent Nick Monaco. I first heard Nick when his track Set The Table was included on a Soul Clap mix that came out a few years back. He’s since released records for the likes of Dirtybird, Moda Black and, of course, Soul Clap Records. In fact, he’s become something of a permanent staple in the sprawling Soul Clap / Wolf + Lamb entourage. He’s playing all over the place this summer and if his early stuff is anything to go by, he’s got quite the future ahead of him. I interviewed him about growing up in San Francisco and cutting his DJ teeth at house parties, for Ibiza Voice. Read the words here.

Toro Y Moi gig review in Mixmag

Ahead of the release of his new album, the fantastic Anything In Return, Toro Y Moi played a one-off gig in London. Held in the converted goods shed The Village Underground in hipster-central Shoreditch, Toro & band played to a sell-out crowd of clued up fans. Mixmag sent me down to try and capture the giddiness in a pithy review, which is out in this month’s issue (see below) and available now.
